In this project, one of the main ideas I am dealing with is how history is presented in exhibits. I am mainly looking at anthropological exhibits that are found in natural history museums. The narratives that can be found in artifacts have always captivated my imagination.

This piece is to show that there is a correlation between certain items and masculinity. The intention for the viewer is to question how the items, in a simulated space, function in a heavily masculine culture.

The box holds the heart, the true essence of anxiety and fear for its owner. The box becomes a proxy of sorts for the emotions that are discarded by the holder. It becomes a vessel to contain what is ostracized, what is seen as revolting or defective.
